Vomiting as a remedy

Eliminating Septic Substances: Five Approaches for Detoxification

Among the five methods employed to expel septic substances from the body, vomiting stands as a crucial technique. These methods encompass diarrhea, vomiting, cupping, the release of air or wind, and perspiration. These five practices are underscored in the Sunnah. Sweating, another method for eliminating septic substances, usually doesn’t involve piercing the veins. Rather, the skin’s open pores facilitate the body’s innate process of excretion through perspiration. Vomiting, on the other hand, entails the expulsion of harmful substances from the upper part of the stomach. Enemas and medicinal interventions that artificially induce expulsion through the lower regions of the stomach can be categorized into two types: those occurring naturally and those triggered artificially.

The naturally instigated vomit should not be prevented, except when it becomes excessive and becomes unsafe. In this case, one should take medicines that stop vomiting. The second type of vomiting is used for medicinal purposes, at the proper time, and under proper conditions. There are ten reasons for vomiting,

  1. When there is too much bile in the stomach, it can cause it to float and try to find a way out of the body.
  2. When there is an excess of phlegm in the stomach, it seeks a way to exit the body.
  3. If the stomach is unable to fully digest food, the partially digested food may try to leave the body. This can happen when the stomach is weak.
  4. Vomiting happens when an injurious substance enters the stomach and disturbs the process of digestion.
  5. If an individual consumes an excessive amount of food or drink, beyond the capacity of their stomach, the stomach may not be able to handle it and will attempt to expel the excess nourishment.
  6. When the food or drink consumed is not suitable for the stomach, vomiting occurs as the stomach expels it.
  7. If the stomach is affected by a condition that causes the food and drink to spoil, it will try to find a way to exit the body.
  8. Vomiting can be caused by nausea.
  9. When a person experiences depression, sadness, or anguish, they may lose their appetite and disregard their body’s need for nourishment. This can lead to undigested food in the stomach and may even cause vomiting due to the significant impact the mind and body have on each other.
  10. One might feel nauseous and then vomit upon seeing other people vomit.

Managing Body Toxins: Vomiting and Diarrhea in Different Climates

Vomiting proves to be an effective remedy in hot climates and warm weather. In regions with elevated temperatures, specific noxious substances possess a lighter density, causing them to float more readily. This phenomenon underscores the efficiency of vomiting as a means to expel these harmful amalgamations. Conversely, in colder areas and during chilly weather conditions, certain deleterious compounds tend to thicken, rendering their extraction from the body more challenging. In such scenarios, addressing these toxic mixtures is more suitably achieved through diarrhea.

Eliminating Harmful Mixtures: Strategic Approaches for Effective Removal

The expulsion of detrimental combinations involves two distinct methods: either drawing them out through the nearest exit or extracting them from the farthest point. For example, certain mixtures exhibit instability, prompting them to either rise or fall within the body. Should a mixture possess an upward inclination, disposing of it from below is the preferred course. Conversely, if a mixture tends to descend, extracting it from above is more advisable. Once a mixture achieves stability, opting for removal through the nearest exit proves optimal. In situations where the mixture jeopardizes upper organs, guiding it downward through lower regions becomes necessary, and vice versa. As these mixtures attain stability, their expulsion is most effectively accomplished through the nearest available exit.

Reasoning Behind Prophet’s Cupping Practices: Strategic Blood Purging

The Prophet’s practice of cupping, performed at various points like the arm vein, the head, and the top of the foot, highlights a thoughtful approach to blood purification. This method aimed to expel impure blood through the closest and most accessible exit points.

The Beneficial Effects of Vomiting on the Body

Vomiting plays a pivotal role in purging the stomach of harmful substances. Additionally, this natural process contributes to fortifying the stomach, enhancing visual acuity, and alleviating the discomforts like headaches, ulcers, and kidney and prostate infections. Moreover, vomiting offers relief and comfort for persistent conditions such as leprosy, dropsy, partial paralysis, and trembling.

Prudent Guidelines for Vomiting: A Balanced Approach

For individuals in good health, inducing vomiting once or twice a month, each session comprising two rounds, can be beneficial. The second instance of vomiting aids in expelling residual substances missed during the initial purge. It’s important to note, however, that excessive vomiting can prove detrimental. It has the potential to impair the stomach and weaken its protective layers, while also negatively affecting teeth, vision, hearing, and even triggering headaches. It’s worth mentioning that intentional vomiting is not recommended for those with specific conditions, such as throat swelling, weak chests, narrow windpipes, difficulty in deliberate vomiting, or a tendency to cough up blood. Furthermore, individuals who habitually overfill their stomachs and then resort to inducing vomit might hasten the aging process and invite various harmful ailments. Such a practice could also foster a habitual reliance on vomiting.
